On Wednesday, the United States crossed the threshold of 200,000 cases of emerging coronavirus, according to the Johns Hopkins University census, a reference to monitor these infections on US soil.
The death toll from the virus reached 4,361 cases in the United States, which tops the list of countries most affected by the virus with 203,608 recorded infections.
New York is the epicenter of the epidemic in the United States, with at least 1,900 deaths recorded, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo.
In an effort to stem the growing epidemic, more than 8 out of 10 Americans were asked to go home.
The White House considers that the epidemic will lead to the death of between 100,000 and 200,000 people if the Americans abide by the current measures, compared to between 1.5 and 2.2 million if these measures were not taken.
On the other hand, the Pentagon announced that 93 people were infected with the emerging coronavirus, on the American warship "Theodore Roosevelt."
The captain of a US aircraft carrier, which has more than 4 thousand people on board, had requested emergency assistance, on Tuesday, to stop the outbreak of the Corona Virus on his ship, after it was confirmed that a number of sailors on board the ship were confirmed last week.
A number of people aboard the "Theodore Roosevelt" aircraft carrier, anchored at Guam Island, were confirmed infected last week, before the Pentagon announced that 93 people were infected .
"We are not at war. Sailors do not have to die," said Brett Cruiser, the aircraft carrier's captain, in a message to the Pentagon.
Cruiser recommended quarantining nearly all of the crew.
Cruiser said it is impossible to apply social divergence measures on board the aircraft carrier, as many sailors live in narrow spaces.
In his letter, dated March 30, the military official warned that the spread of the virus was "continuing and accelerating."
"There is a need for decisive action," he added.
